Riverbed Webinar Series - Shark Week: Packet Capture Options with Cascade Shark

Riverbed Webinar Series - Shark Week: Packet Capture Options with Cascade Shark

May 2, 2012 // 1:00pm - 4:00pm CST

Packet capture and analysis is an important component of any good application-aware network performance management solution as packets provide the ultimate source of visibility into how applications perform on the network. Cascade© Shark© probes provide real-time traffic analysis while also serving as a digital video recorder (DVR), continuously capturing and storing packets to disk to provide an historical record of network activity, enabling network specialists to investigate and triage complex performance problems that happened in the past.

There are three known species of Cascade Shark today. Learn when, where and how to deploy each to gain broad, cost-effective coverage of your network environment:

  • Cascade Shark appliances provide a range of storage, capture performance and interface options to monitor the physical network
  • Virtual Cascade Shark software runs on VMware ESXi environments and is used to monitor and troubleshoot inter-VM traffic as it traverses the virtual switch, and/or to “build your own” packet capture device using a third-party appliance
  • Embedded Cascade Shark functionality is included within Steelhead© WAN optimization appliances to enable on-demand packet capture at remote sites at no additional cost
  • Finally, no discussion of Cascade Shark would be complete without a mention and live demo of its close companion – Cascade Pilot! Cascade Pilot is the packet analysis console that interfaces with Cascade Shark devices to streamline distributed packet-, transaction- and multi-segment analysis without having to transfer large pcap files over the network.

Riverbed Exhibits at DISA Mission Partner Conference

Riverbed Exhibits at DISA Mission Partner Conference

    May 7, 2012 // Tampa, FL // 10:00am - 6:00pm CST

Join Lt Gen Ronnie D. Hawkins Jr., DISA director, and the DISA leadership for the 2012 DISA Mission Partner Conference at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, FL, from May 7 to 10. This year's conference theme is "The Joint Enterprise: Delivered Through Partnership."

The annual DISA conference brings together decision-makers and subject-matter experts from the military services, combatant commands, industry, and academia to share information and ideas that are of mutual interest and are critical to helping DoD achieve mission success. The conference also features a list of stellar speakers, all of whom are thought leaders in their respective areas.

This year, we have again incorporated DISA's annual Forecast to Industry Day. The Industry Day program on Wednesday, May 9, will feature a series of briefings by DISA senior staff, addressing specific tactical acquisition issues, requirements, and planned procurements for the 2013/2014 fiscal years.

The conference enables you to interact with DISA senior leaders and other participants to hear about and discuss the successes, challenges, initiatives, and way ahead in the areas of enterprise infrastructure; command and control and information sharing; and operating and assuring the reliability, availability, diversity, capacity, and security of the enterprise. Our focused track sessions are not only opportunities to learn about what DISA is doing, but are also opportunities to provide feedback and to stimulate a continuing dialogue throughout the week and afterward.

Feedback from participants in previous DISA conferences attests to the value of the face-to-face interaction and discussion among government-to-government and government-to-industry professionals. With speakers on the cutting edge of information technology and telecommunications, more than 3,000 participants, and more than 200 industry exhibitors, the networking opportunities at the sessions, on the exhibit floor, and during the evening activities are endless.

A special, one-day rate is available for industry participants who want to attend only the Forecast to Industry Day on May 9. The one-day rate recognizes that time and budget for both large and small businesses may be constrained and is intended to enable the maximum number of business/industry representatives to participate in the high-level review of the requirements and business opportunities of DISA. However, you are strongly encouraged to consider the advantages and overall increased value of participating in the entire Mission Partner Conference.
