    HP hosted its annual partner conference last week in Las Vegas and for the first time, HP’s global partners were in attendance. With over 3,000 attendees, Meg Whitman, president and CEO, addressed how HP is returning to its roots and that HP’s focus will be around hardware with supporting functions from its other offerings such as software and services including key announcements surrounding its HP ProLiant Gen8 and HP ServiceONE offerings.

“Project Voyager,” a new server architecture for Proliant Gen8 servers, automates server management and includes three primary pieces: integrated lifecycle formation, workload acceleration, and automated energy optimization. In addition, HP announced that ServiceONE--a program launched last year to expand its service offerings--has now expanded to HP Storage. The new HP ServiceONE Partner Support for HP Storage program enables channel partners to sell AND deliver services under the HP brand or their own partner label. This expanded service offering provides greater flexibility and an opportunity to build even closer (more profitable) relationships with end customers. Lastly, HP provided a sneak peek at a cloud computing partner specialization program for launch in November 2012.

In addition to all the exciting key announcements, Avnet Technology Solutions participated as a Global Diamond Sponsor for the event, showcasing a number of Avnet’s unique offerings such as its Cloud Center of Excellence Demo Center and CapacityNow™. Avnet also co-hosted two breakout sessions: “Accelerate HP Sales in High-growth Markets: An Avnet Roadmap to Industry Specialization", presented by Michael Houghton, vice president, Vertical Market Solutions, and “Capitalize on the Cloud” presented by Mike Mattal, director Cloud Solutions.

HP is changing their exam provider from Prometric to Pearson VUE

Individuals can continue to schedule their certification exams through Prometric until January 16, 2012. The last date when you can take an exam through Prometric is January 31, 2012. Pearson VUE will begin taking exam registrations on January 17, 2012, and will begin delivering exams February 1, 2012, at 8 a.m. CST.

Before anyone can register for and take an exam through Pearson VUE, they need to create and activate a testing profile on the HP-specific Pearson VUE Testing Portal.
